Marrakech golf COURSES.




1) ROYAL GOLF CLUB OF MARRAKECH
The Marrakech Royal Golf course is one of the oldest golf courses in Morocco. Winston Churchill, David Lloyd George and General Eisenhower have played there. The course is fairly narrow and winds through a profusion of cypress, eucalyptus, palm, olive, orange and apricot trees. It is located at the foothills of the High Atlas mountains and this background of will offer the player a test of shot making skills.
Green fees for 18 holes are 500 Moroccan dirhams , around £42) while a caddy (compulsory if you are not hiring a buggy) is 100 Dh (around £8.5). Hire of a buggy is 350 Dh (around: £29)
Opened in 1923 and designed by: Arnaud Massy, Gustave Gollias & Bouchaib Stitou the course is located around 15 Minutes Drive from Marrakech City centre and open daily. Facilities & services available include a golf pro, clubhouse, practice range, club hire and a golf school (David Leadbetter).
Set in a beautiful landscape , near to the Royal Golf Club and with wonderful views of the snow-covered Atlas Mountains (in late winter and early spring). The clubhouse, an ochre coloured traditional Kasbah style building, overlooks the links and creates a muted atmosphere ideally suited for relaxing after a game.
This course is testing for any golfer with a number of water features and bunkers but set beautifully amongst palm groves and Moroccan architecture. The course has integrated the “khettaras” – an 11th Century irrigation system built during the Almoravid dynasty

Opened in 1995 and designed by: Cabell B. Robinson the club is located around 15 minutes drive from Marrakech city centre and open daily from 7 am to 7 pm
The course has 27 holes (9 holes x 3): Par 72 (18 Holes) – Length: 6657 metres. Green Course: Par 36 – Length: 3417 Metres / Red Course: Par 36 – Length: 3301 Metres / Blue Course: Par 36 – Length: 3356 Metres
Facilities & services available are golf pro, clubhouse, pro shop, practice range and club hire.

3) PALMERAIE GOLF CLUB
When the international master Robert Trent Jones Sr. was presented with a perpetually blue sky at the celebrated Palmeraie) near Marrakech .he created an 18- hole masterpiece: the unimaginatively named Palmeraie Golf Course. The golf course is dotted with seven lakes and covers, beautiful fairways among palm trees with an usual panorama of the high Atlas mountains. The club house is sumptuous and offers many facilities
Green fees for 18 holes are 500 Moroccan dirhams (Around£42)
Once again a caddy is compulsory if you are not hiring a buggy): 100 DH (around £8.50. A buggy: 400 DH (around: £33)

4) SAMANAH GOLF CLUB
Samanah Golf Club is located 8 km from Marrakech Menara Airport on the road to Amezmiz. The domain covers more than 300 hectares and benefits from an open view of the High Atlas mountains. A hundred hectares are taken by the golf course which was created by Nicklaus Design. Samanah is “desert type” golf course and the choice of vegetation reflects this with the usual cacti, palm and, olive trees. The length is 6800m from the back tees. The length can be modified, thanks to the wide departures: par is 72. The quality of the greens is the key point of the course: every player will take lot of pleasure in that part of their game
The clubhouse has a surface of 2000 square metres. Its architecture is inspired by the bulwarks of Marrakech and decorated with ponds and fountains. It includes a players’ bar, TV lounge, restaurants, bridge room, locker rooms, proshop and caddie masters.
Green fees for 18 holes are 800 Moroccan dirhams (around £66) including practice and a caddy: 100 Dh to 150 DH (around £12) to be paid directly to that person. Hire of a buggy is 350 Dh (around: £29) and golfclub/bag rental is 280 Dh (around: £23)

5) AL MAADEN GOLF
Al Maaden is situated near the fascinating historical and cultural centre of Marrakech, with the majestic Atlas Mountains as the usual backdrop. This 18-hole golf course is designed by Kyle Phillips.
The golf course has been designed in grand rolling terrain, placed at the foot hills of the nearby Atlas Mountains. Strategically placed bunkers give players multiple lines of play from the tee and tightly cut spill off areas around the greens gather errant shots, providing a variety of exiting recovery opportunities. Keeping with the traditions of golf, AI Maaden is designed as a walker friendly course, with a surrounding designed landscape and geometric water features that give a feeling of playing through a Moroccan garden.

A buggy is 300 Dh, around £25 and trolley: 50 Dh, around £4 Practice at 100 Ds is around £8 while a golf lesson of 50 minutes with the head pro costs 500 Dh, around £40

Green fees: 35 Euros or £29 (9 hole) & 50 Euros or £42 for 18 hole (going around twice?) and a caddy is 6 Euros or £5 for 09 Holes. .SPA & lunch (excluding drinks) from 60 Euros or £50; including: a massage. Strange thought!
